Buergbrenn municipality of Saeul on February 20, 2026 at 8:00 p.m

Buergbrennen is an old and important custom in Luxembourg.
In many villages and communities, people gather in the evening around a large fire, which is usually lit on a hill.
The centerpiece of the bonfire is a huge pile of wood, often erected in the shape of a cross.
The discarded Christmas trees were previously collected by clubs from the communities and incorporated into the construction of the cross.
Thus, the Christmas trees symbolically received a second purpose and contributed to the great fire.
Every year this traditional festival is celebrated on the first Saturday or Sunday after Carnival and symbolically marks the end of winter.
The blazing flames symbolize the expulsion of cold and darkness, as well as the rebirth of spring.
The ritual embodies the triumph of light and warmth and is also a strong symbol of community and solidarity.
Food and drinks are often offered, and the festival is accompanied by a convivial gathering of the village community.
Since our club is registered in the municipality of Saeul, we regularly participate in various events and activities in the region.
It is important to us to actively support community life, to show our presence and to strengthen cohesion within the village community.
